Matthew Gomes

Hi, my name is Matthew, I am currently a Biochemistry student at the University of Exeter. My passion has always been in science to help understand the world around us. This has been shown by my A* in Biology and A in Chemistry. In my spare time, I participate in a variety of sports including badminton, table tennis and golf. Additionally, I enjoy baking and coding.
I have a passion for teaching and have previous tutoring experience, where I have supported many students at different levels in a variety of subjects. During this time, I have received a high level of positive feedback for my patience and logical way of explaining topics.
I enjoy working with students to support their academic journey and their confidence in their own abilities. I bring organisation and structure to support the learning of some difficult topics, which can help students feel more comfortable in these subjects. I believe learning application of various topics is essential as students can have a deeper appreciation for the subject they are learning. My lessons are tailored to students’ needs. Lessons will have a pace and depth dictated by the student. I enjoy making my lessons engaging to keep students interested in the work we are doing together.
